Vasily Andreev was born in 1979 in Moscow. At the age of 6, he started taking classes in cello at the Gnessin Moscow Special School of Music (N.Y. Zavarzina)
At the age of 15 he started playing the double bass (A.M. Stepin), and at the age of 17 he entered The Moscow Conservatory (prof. L.V. Rakov), than finished Conservatory and postgraduated study.

In 2000, as a winner in the Philarmonie der Nationen competition, he received an offer to join the Philarmonie der Nationen (J.Frantz) in addition to the scholarship award.
In 2001, as a student, he won the audition on the 1st Principal bass in Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, where he served in this position for 19 years.

Since 2019, he has been working as the 1st Principal Bass in the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia headed by Vladimir Spivakov.
He performs as a soloist, chamber player ,guest principal in (Digital Orchestra, Singapore Symphony Orchestra and others), conducts master classes of solo and orchestral playing in Russia and abroad, and is also a jury member of All-Russian Competition of Symphony Orchestra Artists.
