Vladimir Kouznetsov is currently a Principal Double Bass at the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, and professor at the Academia Superior of Orquestra.
Born in Moscow, after starting his studying of violin at the age of five, later got passion for double bass. Сompleted studies at the Conservatoires of Tchaikovsky and Mussorgsky. Began professional career at the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, followed by the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Vassily Sinaisky. In 1984-85 participated in the first production and recording in USSR of the chamber opera “Turn of the screw” of B.Britten under direction of Sviatoslav Richter. At the same time played with the international chamber orchestra “21 century”. As a soloist played in 1987 the world premiere of Concert for double bass of N. Sergeev, with the Orchestra of Moscow Conservatoire.

Regarding to chamber music, has played frequently recitals with the different groups, such as Ensemble of soloists of the Union of Soviet composers. Plays regularly various recitals solo and chamber music with colleges of the Orquestra Metropolitana, Moscow Piano Quartet, Ensemble Shostakovich, Orquestra Utópica, Ensemble Novo Blue, others. Has played as a soloist with the Orquestra Metropolitana. In 2010 recorded for the European Radio Suite for the string orchestra of Al.Ginastera, that includes Duo of double bass and harp. Teaches double bass in Academy of Orquestra, and regularly conducts double bass master- classes in Portugal.
