Renowned for his immaculate technique, refined sound and passionate musicianship, the young french cellist Tristan Cornut has already carved out an impressive career worldwide. Since winning the 2007 Stuttgart Domnick Prize, the 2nd Prize at the 2009 Cassado Competition in Japan, and 3rd Prize at the 2010 ARD Cello Competition in Munich, Tristan has been launched into career that has seen him perform as a soloist with many illustrious orchestras, share a stage with some of the worlds’ greatest chamber musicians and be appointed as one of the solo cellists of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen.

Tristan has appeared as a soloist with the Symphonieorchester des Bayrischen Rundfunks, the Stuttgart and Munich Chamber orchestras, Ensemble Resonanz, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Strasbourg and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. His repertoire extends beyond the everyday and includes 20th Century classics such as the cello concertos of Henri Dutilleux, Nicholas Maw and Pehr Nordgren.

As a chamber musician, Tristan is a member of the Stefan Zweig Piano Trio, which was awarded First Prize at the 2015 Haydn Competition in Vienna. The trio is fast emerging as one of the finest young ensembles of today. He has performed with many leading artists, such as Yo-Yo Ma, Antonio Meneses, Salvatore Accardo, Miguel Da Silva and Bruno Giuranna. Tristan has also been awarded prizes for chamber music at the Melbourne (3rd Prize and Audience Prize, 2011) and Trondheim Competitions (1st Prize, 2011).

A graduate of the Paris Conservatory,Tristan studied with Roland Pidoux, and later with Jean-Guihen Queyras in Stuttgart and Freiburg. Tristan is now active as a teacher himself at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart.
